Over 75% of web sites have not been updated for over 6 months, leading to fears that they are clogging up cyberspace and could be destroying the planet an emergency online meeting was told today.
So many web sites are just sitting there not doing anything that they are slowing down the information superhighway and could even stop the Metaverse in its tracks before it really gets started, the Internet Reporting Alert Group (IRAG) meeting was told.
Internet users are being asked to report abandoned Web sites by getting in touch with IRAG ASAP.
Upcycling is not an option for the majority of abandoned sites as most people have forgotten their log in details.
