A strong final week rescued this year’s sofa dumping season from being one of the weakest on record.
Over 18,700 sofas were dumped on streets, up alleys and in parks across the country between September 23rd and September 30th.
While a spokeswoman for the Furniture UK Dumping Association Trade (FUKDAT) admitted that ‘it was tight, we were staring down the barrel’ she strongly denied strong rumours that contingency plans to bring forward the mattress dumping season had been considered.
‘We were always confident that if we held our nerve the people would rally. We’re looking forward now to a bumper matress dumping season between now and Christmas.’
