Condiment crash: First mayonnaise drone drop declared partial success

The world’s first mayonnaise drone drop sent sachets and aging shoppers scattering today.

The experiment was the first recorded attempt to land a 5kg box of 50g sachets of mayonnaise at a garden centre cafe.

Professor Claude Crouton, visiting professor for UAV ((unpiloted air vehicle) aka drone)) delivery, said: “Given a release at ten metres above ground the per second per second acceleration was within the calculated range and the splatter circumference was as forecast and well within predicted safety limits. So for a first attempt we can call it a partial success. We chose a garden centre because of the older shopper demographic. The public was never in any real danger though there is a small dry cleaning bill to settle.”

One shopper, Dame Muriel Roulade, MBE, said: “We didn’t see anything but when we heard the splosh everyone turned around. It made a terrible stain on my blouse. I’m all for progress but maybe they should stick to delivering burgers. “

Plans for a baked bean drop has been put back by several days.
